RPAS provide the ability to capture on-demand mapping for a fraction of the cost of traditional methods using manned aircraft, and at a much higher resolution than satellites. Unlike manned aircraft RPAS operate on an on-demand basis, at a much lower altitude and are not hampered by cloud cover. A survey can performed safer, faster and much cheaper than manned aircraft.
Orthophotos, DTM and Pointclouds
Orthophoto resolution varies from project to project, but typically is 3.5cm per pixel (3.5cm GSD), which is enough to see a golf ball. 3D terrain models (e.g. DSM, DTM and pointclouds) are standard end products of the photogrammetric process can be used to create contours, volumetric calculations, etc. The accuracy of the 3D data is generally around 2cm laterally and 3cm vertical.
All outputs are fully geo-referenced and ortho-rectified, meaning measurements and calculations can be taken directly from them. This can be anything from basic distance and area calculations, stockpile volume analysis, sight lines or measuring the grade of a surface for road planning or water runoff.
3DroneMapping is one of the few drone photogrammetric companies in the world that further processes raw pointcloud data into classified datasets, differentiating between ground, vegetation, buildings and other structures. This manual classification ensures that our contours are representative of the topography.
Our inhouse survey and GIS departments further process our high resolution data to extract features designated for topographic mapping. Such mapping is done in 3d, detailing items such as contours, levels, structures, roads, hardened surfaces, trees, water, etc. All data is then exported into industry standard formats like AutoCAD DWG or Esri Shapefiles.
Online / Offline GIS
For those clients that do not have access to GIS or drafting software, 3DroneMapping can develope onsite or offsite GIS platforms to interrogate, print and view our mapping products. Having a GIS online allows it to be viewed anywhere in the world on mobile or desktop devices and shared amongst colleagues, while not requiring specialised software or hardware. NDVI Plant Health survey
3DroneMapping has specialised optical sensors that can accurately map wavelengths that are invisible to the naked eye, but give a good indication of the health of a plant. Such imagery is used in crop analysis were vegetation may appear to be lush and developing well from normal RGB data, but NGB images may show areas in a field were the plant is undergoing stress as a result from disease. over watering, pests, etc. Such information is very useful for farmers to get a snapshot of a crops health and proposed yields.
Post Processed Kinematic Survey (PPK)
3DroneMapping has developed an inhouse survey system for onboard raw GPS and inertia measurements that do away with the traditional requirements of placing time consuming Ground Control Points (GCP). This system guarantees accuracies in the order of 0.05m depending on the end resolutions. The accuracies of all data can be further strengthened by adding pre-marked and surveyed points by our field teams to less than 0.03m. These results have been verified by our geodetic partners and continue to provide us with quality assurance for our PPK work.
